A bit of context
Cartel is a modern Mexican bar and eatery led by international mixologist Grant Collins and Chef Arnolfo Raimondi. Located on the ground floor of the Old Rum Store, the venue pairs bold flavours with a refined atmosphere.
The problem to crack
The team wanted a brand that captured the energy and intensity of Mexican cuisine—without falling into clichés. The challenge: how to create something that felt vibrant and layered, while still elegant enough to reflect the venue’s elevated experience.
What we did about it
We created a modern identity that blends the spirit of Mexico with the sophistication of Sydney. A mix of serif and sans-serif typography nods to the fusion at the heart of the venue, while Aztec-inspired patterns and an earthy, punchy colour palette bring warmth and vibrancy. From coasters to signage, every touchpoint was crafted to reflect the care, flavour, and precision behind every drink and dish.
